I do not see a better way to prepare for their preliminary exams in a focused way. Adapt is priceless, and the confidence I had going in to the exam can be attributed entirely to Coaching Actuaries.

Nice to Knows: Frequently Asked Questions

We've compiled this FAQ to answer common questions about this exam and serve as a resource for your preparation. If your question isn't answered here, please reach out to our support team. We're here to help you navigate your actuarial journey!

  • While the study duration varies from person to person, it's typical to invest around 300 hours in preparing for this exam (roughly 100 hours per exam hour). Most students spread their study over three months, dedicating the first two months to learning the material and the final month to solving practice problems. You can use our scheduler to help organize your exam preparation.

  • Using the typical 3-part calculus series, the calculus prerequisite spans Calc 1 and a little of Calc 2. Even with a lack of background knowledge, you will be able to learn as you go. A quick review of these (and other prerequisite) topics is included in the appendix in Learn.

  • Yes, the course is current. Note, Learn has a section called "Insurance and Risk Management", but the exam syllabus does not. “Insurance and risk management” is mentioned in the syllabus, just not as a formal topic under Learning Outcomes. We believe the subject deserves its own section for the concepts to be clearly laid out.
