A Quick Look Back

Just over two weeks ago, the Coaching Actuaries team unveiled a significant upgrade to our online learning platform. We aimed to enhance your learning experience, making it easier and smoother to study.


This upgrade is just the beginning of modernizing our platform, and we’re committed to continually improving our work. Let’s take a look at improvements we’re already making based on your feedback.

We’re always listening.

Because there’s a passionate community around Coaching Actuaries, you had plenty of feedback for our team on this upgrade, both positive and constructive.

“The mobile view is … a game changer,” enthused one student. “[You] leveled up Earned Level and I am so here for it,” posted another, while other users commented, “The new platform is fantastic!” and “I love the new look.”

Based on the more critical feedback you provided, two themes emerged that we’re already at work on.

Window-in-window design for manuals.

We originally implemented embedded windows to allow you to navigate away from your manual studies and view or create discussions without the need to scroll. This has been a polarizing update and because of that, we thought, “Why not both?!” We’re currently working on giving you the ability to change between the more traditional full-screen layout and the new windowed layout in your account settings.

Making better use of smaller screen sizes.

This update goes hand-in-hand with the first and will include many improvements for viewing content on smaller screens (e.g., tablets, phones, netbooks). Relocating navigation items, tightening up formatting, and improving support for scaling elements and on-screen information will go a long way to making positive impacts to your experience.

While we work on these updates, we will continue to closely monitor your feedback. The Coaching Actuaries team is already at work making improvements, some of these updates have already been released. We’ll continue to roll out these changes as soon as they’re ready.

Tips for providing constructive feedback.

First, we really appreciate your feedback! That said, sharing respectful feedback is key. Your messages are all fielded by our support staff, who care deeply about your experience on the platform and want to do everything they can to help you.


Here are a few tips from our support team to make your feedback more impactful and effective:

  1. Be specific about what you like or don't like. Vague feedback such as "I don't like it" or "It's not good" isn’t helpful. Instead, provide specific examples.
  2. Be mindful of your tone and language as it goes a long way both personally and professionally. Avoid using aggressive or confrontational language, as it can be counterproductive. Instead, offer feedback in a constructive manner.
  3. Don’t be shy about offering ideas. Even with our top-notch team of designers and developers, there are certainly features that would have never been implemented over the years had the ideas not been presented.

Providing feedback is an important skill for your actuarial career. This is a great chance to practice that skill while providing input on a platform you count on!
